Yas Hotel Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Case Study
The Yas Hotel is the construction of two towers that make up the 5 Star hotel with 499 keys from a standard room through to Presidential Suites. The hotel is shrouded with a glazed cloak (grid shell) comprised of 5250 double glazed units with high performance LED's.
One of the towers has an outlook onto a newly constructed marina with major structural elements and marine walkways incorporated into the proposed foreshore areas.
In addition, parts of the grid shell surrounding the tower are supported by isolated concrete columns located along the waterways.
Both towers are constructed over and around the new Formula l race track for Abu Dhabi - linked with a service tunnel (under the race track) and a bridge spanning the race track.
Due to program demands the Yas Hotel was procured on a fast-track route. This involved extensive workshop meetings and on-site coordination with the Racetrack & Marina stakeholders, Site Supervision Team, Design Team and Head Contractor to ensure critical elements of the towers were completed prior to the controlled flooding of the Marina as well as handover of the Racetrack.
In addition, extensive Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental procedures were implemented to manage works in a marine sensitive environment and mitigate safety risks of racetrack works within close proximity to the hotel.
Managing and coordinating the technical consultants and engineers ensuring project delivery in accordance with QA policies, OHS & Environmental legislation and design deliverables.
